European Leonardo da Vinci programme project SocSimNet LV/B/F/PP-172.000 (2004-2006) “Competence Network for Introduction of Modern ICTE Technologies in Vocational Learning in Social Systems Simulation and Research”

The main task of SocSimNet project is to diminish the disproportion between the social and engineering science specialists in democratic and economically profitable way. It can be achieved by promoting ICTE technology, as well as introduction the modern research methods such as Social Systems Simulation, e-applications, courses of exact and engineering sciences etc., into interdisciplinary master’s program of Sociotechnical Systems Engineering. SocSimNet competence network involves the experienced participants from the different European states. Those are Vidzeme University College (Latvia), Latvian Intelligent Systems, Ltd., Koblenz-Landau University (Germany), University of Valladolid (Spain), Latvian Travel Agents Association (ALTA), Riga Technical University (Latvia), Information Technology Centre of Riga Regional Council (Latvia), as well as University of Surray (United Kingdom). The most of the project partners are members of the European Social Simulation Association (ESSA).

The main expected project results are interdisciplinary master’s programme and Social Systems Simulation Technologies and Tools course preparation. Simplified course model will be used for the professional orientation needs.

Project partners will turn particular attention to dissemination and valorisation of the results, will place work results on the Internet, participate in the international conferences, as well as in cooperation with Latvian Travel Agents Association (ALTA) will organize section “ICTE and Simulation Technologies in Tourism Applications” on the International Travel Fair BALTTOUR 2006.

Experimental introductory results are mostly aimed at the usage in travelling business, environmental health, as well as business systems and applications management. The audience of the SocSimNet consists of the professional and academic higher educational institutions of Europe and the world (universities, colleges, training centres etc.), which prepare specialists in social sciences, as well as are interested in specialisation of ICTE tracks.

European Leonardo da Vinci programme project LOGIS MOBILE LV/B/F/PP-172.001 (2004-2006) “Competence Framework for Mobile On-Site Training in Logistics Information Systems”
LOGIS MOBILE project’s aim is a creation, testing, and distribution of a new mobile m-training technology. New combined training and consultation methods use a concise professional dictionary in Logistics Information Systems and mobile telecommunication technologies in Internet WAP/WML environment.
Offered methods are cost effective and ensure convenient access to an upgrade of a professional skills and consultation services to any training participant – students, logistics specialists, managers, training organizers etc., using only mobile GSM/UMTS phone. Competence framework LOGIS MOBILE join experienced project partners. They are Latvian Intelligent Systems, Ltd., Fraunhofer Institut Fabrikbetrieb und –automatisierung (Germany), Otto-von-Guericke Universitat Magdeburg (Germany), Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (Spain), Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (Spain), Mettle Groupe (France), Klaipedos Universitetas (Lithuania), AS Ventamonjaks (Latvia), IDC Information Technologies (Latvia), Latvian National Association of Freight Forwarders, Riga Technical University (Latvia) and Warsaw University of Technology (Poland). Partners have a close cooperation with the largest European logistics associations.
Preparation of a multifunctional explanatory dictionary in Logistics Information Systems and its publication in printed and electronic form in wide spoken European languages can be mentioned as the basic results of the project. Training material is located on GSM/UMTS mobile communication network and Internet environment, ensuring combined e-training and m-consulting possibilities, according to methodology, which is developed within the project framework. Plan of the project results and intermediate results dissemination and valorisation activities foresees information distribution, using customers data base created during the first phase of the LOGIS project, which ensured introduction of the LOGIS first step project results already in 26 countries. Project results have been reported at international conferences and information events. Project partners have relationships with adjacent projects and educational network LOGNET of European Logistics Association (ELA).
